Blog #7 Fashion Trunk Shows

Subdivision and Ethereal

I posted this video of a fashion trunk show I found on you tube.  I have never been to a fashion trunk show before but this is definitely one I'd like to go to. A local boutique in Queens, Subdivision and Ethereal, sponsored the event at a local restaurant.  The event featured local designers from Queens Brooklyn, and Long Island City who came together to show and sell their fashion.  People could shop great fashion, eat, mingle and listen to music all under one roof!  That sounds like the best shopping experience ever!  I liked the idea of having different designers come together under one roof and show their fashion.

Blog #6 John Galliano Fashion Show

Controversial issues aside, John Galliano is among the world's most talented designers.  Although his show was cancelled there was a small presentation of his collection in a hotel in Paris.  Only a select few were invited along with a few editor's.  It is said that this collection may be his last.  The show was very intimate and the setting was perfect for his collection.  The models looked like mannequins they were so perfectly dressed.  It was an amazing collection.  Although the show was not a huge production it was still effective in delivering its message of elegance and sophistication.

Blog #5 Fall 2012 Color Story

Fall 2012 will prove to be an exciting season full of bright bold colors!  According to pantone the Fall 2012 season will bring on a combination of bold electric colors that will replace the typical muted colors that we usually see in the fall.  This color story below displays the vibrant pinks, and blues that are forecasted to be the must have colors of the season.  Blue being the key color.  Throw in some greens, purples, greys, oranges and neutrals and you have a complete color story to die for.

Neutrals: The great thing about neutrals is that it can be paired with anything and everything.

Pink is fun yet assertive!  Pair it with gold and its an amazing combination. Pink and gold are trending to be the it wedding colors of the season.

Grey is a happier black.  Black is taking a back seat to grey next Fall.  It looks great with bolder colors like purple, pink, and blue.  Gey gives the brighter colors a softer look.

Blues are at the forefront next Fall 2012.  Although blue is a calming color it serves as an exciting piece to any wardrobe.

Purple is one of my favorite colors being forecasted. It is a romantic color.  It can be paired with pink, grey and neutrals.

Lola's  Pick of the week

I have two picks this week!!  My pick of the week are my pink suede peep toe platform sling back pumps from BEBE with the matching bag with chain link handles.  My second pick of the week is my satin electric blue platform BEBE pumps with the matching bag! I think I'm ready for next Fall.  Love it!

Blog #4 Dior Spring 2012

I chose an article featured in the NY Times in the Fashion and Style section on Dior Spring 2012 runway show.  The article gave an overview of Diors Spring 2012 colletion. I loved how they used a plaid like design, but more refined and called it windowpane checked patterns.   These patterns were paired with a more relaxed version of Dior's iconic bar jacket. The silk and lace fabrics used in the collection give it a romatic look.

Dior: Chic and Safe but With Buzz

From the hubbub at Dior, with vamping socialites and a front row of LVMH brass, including its chairman, Bernard Arnault, and the habitually leather-clad architect Peter Marino, one would have thought de Gaulle had come back from the dead. I guess Dior is France. The flying colors, though, were the grays and creams of the house, mixed with palest blue and a dash of poppy red.

Bill Gaytten, the studio head, did a nicely restrained job with Dior’s tailoring, pairing the classic bar jacket with checked or creamy gazar skirts, and cigarette pants. Necklines were opened up. A sleeveless cotton dress in black and white windowpane checks offered a different take on the season’s graphic patterns. White silk coats were printed with smoky gray roses, another house signature. Evening consisted of airy black lace with white silk, and cocktail dresses with swimsuit backs.
Sidney Toledano, the Dior chief, said an announcement about a new designer might be in a few weeks.

Lola' Pick of the Week

My pick of the week is Dior's iconic bar suit.  Know as the "New Look".  It was a revolution in fashion.  Is flattering silouhette is adored and copied by many.
